Replacing Old Composite Bonding & Bulky Veneers
Unhappy with composite bonding that keeps staining or chipping, or previous veneers that feel too thick, opaque, or unnatural? Discover how we safely upgrade existing dental work.
Why Composite Bonding & Templated Veneers Often Disappoint Over Time
Over 40% of Dr Sam Jethwa’s veneer cases involve replacing previous cosmetic dentistry performed elsewhere — most commonly 3-to-5-year-old composite bonding that has lost its lustre, stained around the margins, or chipped.
When removing old composite bonding or previous porcelain veneers, we use high-magnification protocols that selectively lift away the old resin or ceramic without drilling into your underlying healthy tooth structure — replacing it with hand-layered 0.3mm Feather Veneers® that never stain and last 15+ years.
Safe Bonding Removal + Feather Veneers® Upgrade
We gently remove stained resin or bulky porcelain, check gum health, sculpt a fresh handmade Trial Smile, and fit ultra-thin porcelain that resists staining permanently.

Composite Bonding vs. Hand-Layered Feather Veneers®
Why patients upgrade from composite resin to bespoke ultra-thin porcelain.
Why Patients Trust The Bespoke Smile Method
Whether you’re worried about healthy enamel being drilled down, nervous about dental treatment, or wondering what sets a bespoke smile apart from standard clinics.
“Do veneers shave down your teeth?”
0.3–0.5mm Minimal or Zero-Prep Feather Veneers®
We never aggressively grind down healthy teeth into pegs. Our signature Feather Veneers® are hand-layered to contact-lens thinness (0.3–0.5mm), preserving up to 90–100% of your natural tooth enamel.
“What if I don’t like the result?”
Preview & Test-Drive via Our Handmade Trial Smile
Before any permanent porcelain is made, we hand-sculpt a temporary Trial Smile directly onto your teeth. You wear it home for 1–2 weeks and tweak the length, shape, and shade until you are 100% thrilled.
“What am I paying for & what if I’m nervous?”
In-House Master Ceramist & Luxury Hotel Concierge
Cheap veneers use mass-milled templates from external labs. At Bespoke Smile, your porcelain is hand-layered on-site by our Master Ceramist, while our luxury-hotel-trained concierge team looks after nervous patients at every step.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does removing composite bonding damage my natural teeth underneath?
No. Composite resin has a different optical and physical density from natural tooth enamel. Using magnification and specialist finishing burs, we gently remove the old bonding while leaving your underlying enamel intact.
Can bulky or overly white veneers be replaced with softer, thinner veneers?
Yes. When replacing old veneers, our first step is a handmade Trial Smile so you can see and feel a slimmer, more natural contour and softer shade before our Master Ceramist crafts your replacement porcelain.
How long do Feather Veneers® last compared to composite bonding?
While composite bonding typically needs repolishing every year and replacement after 3–5 years, porcelain Feather Veneers® last 15+ years and never discolour.
